Step One

Research your blog post topic

Research your topic for keywords (use google to search for relevant keywords)

Define your ideal reader/audience (what are they looking for?)

Choose your writing angle/approach

Step Two

Draft your blog post

Create a Catchy Post Title (H1)

Always use your main keyword(s) in your post title.

Your post title should be catchy, on brand, and very clear.

Did you use your keywords/queries?

Use 1000+ Words

Did you use your keywords/queries in the first 100 words?

Publishing long content will help your rankings

An article with lots of valuable information will get more shares

Be real. Be intentional about your content. (Sound like a human)

Use Internal and External Links

Links build the World Wide Web. Google likes to see external links.

Link keywords to supporting posts/galleries

Always open in new tab

Add most internal links in the beginning of the post

Step Three

Format your blog post for easy reading and indexing

Break up your paragraphs for easy reading (2-3 sentences per paragraph)

Short sentences are much easier to scan, read, and intake.

Use H2’s and H3’s to break up post topics (where necessary)

Using headers creates an easy to read, easy to scan post.

Not utilizing headers can negatively impact your SEO *and* the readers experience on your website

Add optimized photos

Be sure they are optimized! Page speed is a ranking factor.

Max upload 2x the size of the content area.

Use emotional, colorful images in each “section” of your post.

Use your best photo above the fold

Using images lead to more shares/interaction

Images create credibility

Remember

Always use a featured image
Add a YouTube video to the top of your post
Add social sharing buttons

Remember to write your blog posts like a research paper. Use clear headings, answer questions, and make it easy to quickly scan the post by using H2’s and H3’s.

Remember to use your main keywords/queries through your copy regularly but organically. It’s most important to use them in the first few paragraphs.

Add alt-text to all your images

Write your SEO Title and Meta Description

Use your main keywords in the beginning of the title

Optimize your post ‘slug’

Keep your URLs short

Keep URLs descriptive (while remaining short)

Share your content online

Ask your friends to share your content. In return, share theirs!

Find Facebook groups that would enjoy your post and share it

Email your post to your email subscribers

Share it on Social Media (IG/FB)

Pin images to Pinterest
